Discovering Canal Winchester, Ohio
Historic Downtown Canal Winchester is a great place to visit or even raise a family if you’re looking for a friendly community that’s close to Columbus.
Canal Winchester is also home to the Mid-Ohio Doll and Toy Museum and the famous National Barber’s Museum as well as the so-called National Barber Hall of Fame. Furthermore, Canal Winchester, which is sometimes merely referred to as just “Canal” is also the home of the Slate Run Vineyard and Winery, the U.S. Headquarters of Scottish brewing company Brewdog, the Brewdog beer hotel, and the many antique shops that welcome visitors from all over.
As one of the best places to live in Ohio, Canal Winchester owes a great deal of its growth to the old Ohio and Erie Canal, which brought people to the city. It is located in Franklin County, and is between it and Fairfield County. The population of Canal Winchester was estimated to be around 7,101 in the most recent U.S. Census.
Originally, Canal Winchester was founded by John Colman and Reuben Dove in 1828. Historical accounts say the construction of the Ohio & Erie Canal was scheduled to go through Dove’s wheat field. Originally, Dove was said to have wanted to sue the state at the time, but a canal worker convinced him instead that he would benefit from laying out a town in the area, because of its location halfway between Lancaster and the state capital, Columbus.

I completed spring tune up on a York air conditioner. I visually inspected the furnace. I inspected the evaporator coil. I checked the temperature difference across the coil. Checked voltage and amps. Inspected heat pump. Checked refrigerant charge, voltages and amps. I rinsed the condenser coils with water. Cycled and monitored the system. Operating normally at this time.
I completed a diagnostic on an A/C. I inspected the unit and found a brand new capacitor. Customer advised another company came out and put in a new capacitor and filled refrigerant. The fan is the only thing operational, no compressor. Contactor is in poor shape but has enough voltage for some operation from compressor. Based on age (22 years old), cost of seen and unseen repairs, being it has the outdated refrigerant, lack of efficiency and not having a warranty I only recommend replacement of AC. Provided free estimate for new system.
I completed scheduled maintenance spring tune up on a Bryant Air Conditioner.
I completed a diagnostic on a Comfortmaker Air Conditioner. I inspected the unit and found the condenser fan motor failed. I explained repair/replacement options. Customer decided to move forward with replacing the OEM motor. I ordered the part and will come back at a later time to finish repair.
